Second Singapore car reported missing in Johor Bahru

According to The Straits Times, a Singapore-registered Honda Stream has been reported missing outside Perling Mall in Johor Bahru last Saturday, 8th August. This is the second incident of a Singapore-registered car being stolen in Johor Bahru in the space of three days.
The owner, 48-year old engineer Arunachalam Sathiamoorthy was on his way back from a family trip to Desaru beach resort when he lost his way. He stopped and parked near the mall, around 3:30pm, to grab a quick bite. "My daughter was hungry so we decided to make a brief stop to get her some food, but my car was gone when I returned less than an hour later," said Mr. Sathiamoorthy.
To compound matters, he discovered that one of the three credit cards left in the vehicle was used by the thief at 5:36pm later that day, when a RM200 (S$71.10) transaction was recorded at a nearby petrol station. He also lost two cash cards, an iPhone 6 Plus and two suitcases containing the family's clothes. Mr. Sathiamoorthy complained that the Johor police proved unhelpful and seemed reluctant to head down to the petrol station to investigate.
However, Mr. Sathiamoorthy believes that the theft of his car is no coincidence, and could be connected to a similar case on Monday - fellow Singaporean Nolan Khoo's Honda Civic was stolen in the space of 10 seconds at JB's Tebrau City, about 16km away from Perling Mall. Mr. Sathiamoorthy had met Mr. Khoo at the insurance company on Tuesday as both were filing their claims.
