Sime Darby Motors opens new flagship facility in Singapore

Sime Darby Motors has opened its new four-storey flagship facility in Singapore. Located along Ubi Road 4, the building houses several of Sime Darby's key businesses.

These include pre-owned car dealerships Sime Darby Auto Selection (SDAS) and BMW Premium Selection (BPS), which are on the first level. The former offers used cars from a variety of brands, while the latter offers pre-owned BMW models.

Vehicles sold by SDAS undergo a "rigorous pre-sale inspection to meet stringent criteria for safety and reliability". BPS is even stricter. In order for a BMW to qualify for the Certified pre-owned BMW programme, the car must be less than five years old, have clocked less than 120,000km, and pass 360-degree inspections.

BMW models that do not meet these requirements are classified as 'pre-owned BMWs' instead.

Apart from SDAS and BPS, the first level is also home to the flagship Motorrad showroom. Motorrad, BMW's motorcycle brand, offers everything from scooters to cruisers to sport bikes, and owners can also have their two-wheelers serviced here.

The second floor of the building has over 60 used cars and features a quality control and polishing area to prepare vehicles for their new owners. There's also a private delivery suite where customers can take delivery of their new purchase.

On the other hand, customers seeking to sell their vehicle can also avail of the on-site valuation service, which can provide them with a quote in a single visit.

Both the car and motorcycle workshops are located on the third level. These BMW aftersales and repair facilities are used by Sime Darby Services (SDS), Quick Lane Service, and PML Service.

The maintenance and repair facility on level three has numerous hoists to hasten turnaround times

SDS is Sime Darby's car rental and leasing arm, which operates Hertz, Thrifty, and FASST, a car subscription service. Quick Lane Service, on the other hand, is a multi-brand service centre that offers maintenance and repairs across a variety of vehicle makes and models.

Meanwhile, PML Service is a BMW servicing provider that employs certified BMW technicians. It complements Sime Darby's other major business, Performance Motors Limited, one of the two official BMW dealers in Singapore. According to Sime Darby, an aftersales facility in this area is critical, as 20 percent of BMW owners live in the northeast.
