First unveiled at the 2025 Singapore Motor Show, Kia has announced the Singapore launch of its all-new EV5 at an event hosted at its parent company's HMGICS facility, where the new model will be made - making this the first Kia model to hold that honour.
The locally-produced EV5 is offered in three trims: Air, Earth, and GT-Line. Kia has said that Air will be the base trim for the EV5, with the Earth being the "focus" trim in Singapore, and the GT-Line being the highest specification trim. This EV5 is underpinned by Kia's N3 eK platform, however, it also utilises a 400V architecture that shares componentry from HMG's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
Both Air and Earth trims are Cat A-friendly single-motor variants delivering a combined output of 100kW (134bhp) and 310Nm of torque. The Air trim comes with a 64.2kWh battery that gives it a WLTP range of 400km, while the Earth trim comes with an 88.1kWh battery that boosts its WLTP range to 540km.
The GT-Line, on the other hand, has an AWD powertrain that slots it into Cat B, with a 160kW (215bhp) front motor and a 70kW (94bhp) rear motor offering a combined output of 230kW (308bhp) and 480Nm of torque. In addition, it shares the same battery as the Earth trim, giving it a WLTP range of 470km.
The Air trim offers AC charging at 6.6kW, while the Earth and GT-Line trims offer 11kW. All trims also come with DC fast charging, at 102kW for the Air and 141kW for the Earth and GT-Line. This allows the Air trim to charge from 10% to 80% in 36 minutes, with the Earth and GT-Line taking 38 minutes to reach the same charge level.
Exterior-wise, the EV5's design features include muscular fenders and powerful shoulder lines, while auto-flush door handles and a lowered rear spoiler enhance its aerodynamic qualities. In addition, the GT-Line has a trim-specific light bar at the front, and both the Earth and GT-Line trims offer a panoramic sunroof, whereas the base Air trim doesn't.
But it's inside where the EV5 shines, with a spacious interior filled with sustainable materials and clever design touches. With a wheelbase of 2,750mm and a height of 1,715mm, the EV5 offers ample room to every occupant. A lot of thought has been given to the driver's experience, with a Panoramic Wide Display integrating a 12.3-inch digital cluster, 5.3-inch climate control panel, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen into a single, streamlined interface that enhances convenience.
The EV5's interior features don’t stop there; it also has a heated and cooling storage drawer that is tucked beneath its rear centre console. This insulated compartment helps to keep food warm or drinks chilled, with temperature settings ranging from 5°C to 55°C.
Future Kia EV5 owners will have more to rejoice about, as its Earth and GT-Line trims feature the brand's premium Relaxation seats for the driver, which come with a retractable leg rest, four-way lumbar support, and an integrated massage function.
And the space isn't just limited to the occupants, either. The Kia EV5 offers 513 litres of boot space, which can increase to 1,714 litres with the rear seats folded flat. And if you thought that was it, all trims will also have a 67-litre frunk providing extra storage options.
Parking has also now been made even smarter with Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2), which can identify parking spots and guide the EV5 into them, even when the adjoining spaces are empty. Drivers can also park or unpark the car remotely while standing outside with the smart key, as well as benefitting from a fingerprint recognition sensor that simplifies driver access and personalisation.
It is also fitted with a host of safety features, which include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Smart Cruise Control. Kia has noted, however, that the EV5's base Air trim will not come with certain features and will only retain the standard safety suite.
All trims will have the option of four exterior colours: Snow White Pearl, Shale Grey, Frost Blue, and Ivory Silver, with one interior configuration per trim - two-toned (dark grey and black) for the GT-Line trim, and black for the Air and Earth trims. Additionally, the Air, Earth, and GT-Line trims will be equipped with 18-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch wheels respectively.
At launch, the base Air trim of the Kia EV5 is going for $194,000, while its Earth trim is priced at $210,600 and its range-topping GT-Line trim costs $260,000. All prices include COE.
