Singapore is one of ten recipients of the City Climate Leadership awards. Given out by Siemens and the C40 network of cities working to combat climate change, the award spans across a range of categories, such as urban transport, air quality and intelligent city infrastructure - in which our nation won.
Chief Transport Engineer of the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Dr Chin Kian Keong, received the award on behalf of Singapore at a ceremony in London. Dr Chin helped in the development of the road pricing system.
At the ceremony, Chief Executive of Siemens Singapore commended the nation on its success in transportation, and its initiatives to expand the transport network for the future. He also cited the authorities' strengths as their willingness to consult public and private stakeholders for their views.
