NIO finally has its own place to call home in Singapore

Wearnes Automotive, the official local distributor of the NIO brand, has finally given the Chinese automotive manufacturer its own personal space with the official launch of the NIO Space, which is located at 28 Leng Kee Road and the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
This new showroom will serve as a space for customers to experience NIO's approach to electric mobility, as well as get up close and personal with the Firefly (stylised as 'firefly'), the cute little premium electric hatchback that was first unveiled at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show.
NIO says the launch of its NIO Space reinforces its commitment to support Singapore's transition towards cleaner transportation and broader push for EV adoption
As the first country to launch the model in right-hand drive, the firefly is NIO's first model to be available for sale in Singapore. And though it may look compact (about the size of a MINI Aceman), it has a pretty spacious and minimalistic interior - albeit one that is well-equipped, much like most Chinese EVs.
Standard equipment includes ventilation and massage functions for both the driver's and front passenger's seat, 256-colour mood lighting, and shiftless parking assist. And speaking of the front seats, both adopt a "bench-style" layout to enhance space and are upholstered in a combination of microfibre and vegan leather.
Don't let the firefly's compact measurements fool you; the premium electric hatchback offers a pretty roomy interior that belies its size
While we're on the topic of spaciousness, the firefly isn't too lacking in luggage space either. A 404-litre boot can be expanded up to 1,253 litres with the backrests folded down, while a 92-litre frunk offers additional storage options should the need arise.
In terms of performance, the firefly has a single electric motor on its rear axle that pumps out a decent output of 105kW and 205Nm of torque. A century sprint timing of 8.1 seconds means it possesses the necessary power for short and quick overtakes, which should come in fairly useful on Singapore roads.
Although its range may be below average for now, NIO plans to incorporate a larger battery in the firefly and the car's battery swapping technology shows that the future is bright for the compact model
The firefly is also powered by a 42kWh battery, which offers an official range of 320km and can support DC charging at up to 100kW. Granted, since most buyers are expecting at least 400km from EVs nowadays, NIO has plans to put a larger battery in the car to address this. With the firefly incorporating NIO's renowned battery swapping technology, the brand points out that making the change in the future should prove easier than expected too.
All eyes weren't just on the firefly, though. Also making a special appearance at the showroom's launch was a prototype of NIO's supercar: The EP9. Serving up a pretty insane 1,000kW of power, the two-seat speedster is able to rocket from 0-200km/h in just 7.1 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 313km/h.
The NIO EP9 hypercar on display is, unfortunately, only a prototype and not for sale. YET. Fingers crossed
As evidence of how long and how much NIO has been pushing boundaries in the electric space, the EP9 also set a record-breaking lap time on the Nurburgring racetrack in May 2017, hitting exactly 6:45.900 minutes.
Speaking on the official opening of the NIO Space, Andre Roy, CEO of Wearnes Automotive, said: "As the industry continues to evolve towards electrification and intelligent mobility, we look forward to introducing NIO's vehicles and technologies to customers here."
