Skoda is upgrading the smallest member of its model range. The Skoda Citigo is being launched with three or five doors and many new design, technology and equipment features. With a length of 3,597mm, width of 1,645mm and height of 1,478mm (five-door model), the Skoda Citigo is one of the most compact yet spacious cars in its segment.
There is a choice of three trim levels - S, SE and SE L. The Skoda Citigo is also available as a Monte Carlo edition.
The Skoda Citigo offers 251 litres of boot space and 1,369mm of elbow room in the five-door variant. With the rear seats folded down, the boot can hold 951 litres (three-door) and 959 litres (five-door). The new generation Blues and Swing radio and infotainment systems offer many connectivity options.
The Swing variant additionally features a colour display, six speakers and Bluetooth connectivity. The Move&Fun App, which runs on both iOS and Android operating systems, provides navigation, a driving data display, hands-free phone calls and tips for efficient driving, as well as playing music and the radio. A Maxi-DOT trip computer display is available as an optional extra on SE L and Monte Carlo trim levels.
The emergency brake system helps to prevent rear-end collisions in city traffic. The assistance feature is automatically active at speeds over 31km/h. A laser sensor, which is integrated in the rear view mirror mount, scans an area of 10m in front of the vehicle. In the event of an impending collision - if the driver does not react - the braking system is primed in the first instance and the hydraulic Brake Assist function becomes more sensitive.
The system also initiates a full application of the brakes to bring the car to a standstill if required or, if the driver is not braking hard enough, it automatically increases the braking force. Two versions of a three-cylinder, 1.0-litre engine - which is mated to a five-speed manual transmission - drive the front wheels of the Skoda Citigo. The entry-level variant puts out 60bhp and 95Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 14.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 162km/h.
The more powerful engine variant delivers 74bhp. 90% (95Nm) of its maximum torque is available at 3,000rpm. It completes the century sprint in 13.5 seconds and has a top speed of 173km/h (manual transmission). All trim levels can be equipped with GreenTech technology as an option, which optimises fuel consumption.
