Skoda U.K.'s most powerful Octavia RS production model gets an upgrade, for a lawful reason. The result is an agile performance model, offered in both hatchback and estate (Combi) body styles, conditioned for police forces thanks to its revised 2.0-litre petrol engine offering an increased power output of 261bhp and 370Nm of torque.
Power is delivered to its front wheels via a seven-speed DSG gearbox and a VAQ electrohydraulic differential, which enables a century sprint timing of 6.4 seconds for the hatchback and 6.5 seconds for the estate. The differential ensures optimal grip in all conditions, with a 15mm lower ride height, as compared to the standard Octavia, along with the option of Dynamic Chassis Control, ensures confident and predictable handling, even at high speeds.
With the Octavia becoming a fan-favourite among emergency service fleets, the new Octavia RS takes it a step further by featuring the latest Skoda innovations, including a 13-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit, and an optional head-up display. Practicality exudes from the model, offering a 600-litre boot for the hatchback and 640-litre boot for the estate. Emergency responders behind the wheel will also benefit from the second-generation LED Matrix beam headlights, which now comes as standard.
The new Octavia RS also comes equipped with a range of advanced safety features such as Automated Emergency Braking, Predictive Pedestrian Protection, Blind Spot Detection, and Turn Assist. Also included is a new Attention and Drowsiness Assist, which monitors the driver's behaviour and assesses their level of drowsiness via a range of datapoints such as the steering inputs and interventions from Lane Assist.
Skoda U.K. also offers, through Skoda-approved conversion partners, bespoke vehicle conversion for Ambulance, Police, and Fire and Rescue teams. The cars will be delivered and ready for immediate service, with the Octavia RS Estate passing the required MET brake safety tests and being fully approved for police use.
