With an annual attendance of up to 200,000 tuning fans meeting in the Austrian town of Reifnitz, Skoda no doubt wants to take the opportunity to wow its fans and attendees. And it plans to do so with the global unveiling of the Skoda Rapid Sport concept at the upcoming GTI meet at Worthersee - to run from tomorrow, the 8th of May till Sunday, the 12th of May.
Since its launch the Rapid has won numerous awards including a five star safety rating in the Euro-NCAP crash testsSkoda claims the Rapid Sport will exude the power of Skoda design as well as the Rapid's inherent possibilities for a vehicle that is full of excitement and sportiness.
As evident from the sketch, the concept will be finished in contrasting 'Corrida Red' and 'Steel Gray' metallic colours (which reminds us of Kratos from God of War) and sits on large 19-inch alloy wheels.
According to Skoda the sporty nature of the car continues around the back with a voluminous bumper and two integrated tailpipes. The rear lights in the 'C'-shaped design - typical for the brand - show a contrasting colour. A carbon frame surrounds the bottom section. The sporty layout continues in the inside with a sport-type steering wheel, Recaro seats and illuminated door sills.
The Rapid is sold in Europe as Skoda's seventh model and the compact sedan complements the company's model range between the Fabia and the new Octavia. Rapid measures 4480mm long and 1700mm wide and offers generous room for five passengers and their luggage.
