Skoda has announced that it will introduce an all-new entry-level crossover in India.
Developed and set to be built in India, the new crossover is intended to strengthen Skoda's position in the country and accelerate its internationalisation strategy. The sub four-metre crossover will sit below the 4,225mm-long Kushaq while also being based upon the MQB-A0-IN platform, and is scheduled to make its debut in the first half of 2024.
Skoda states that the crossover's sub four-metre length means it will be eligible for excise benefits in India. It also states that it plans to pass on these benefits to customers when it comes to pricing its new crossover.
When unveiled, the new crossover will be the third Skoda product to be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform which was developed jointly by teams in India and the Czech Republic to deliver on high localisation, low costs of ownership, and quick turnaround times. The platform has already proven its mettle in India and the world with the Kushaq and Slavia earning a full five-star rating for adult and child occupants in Global NCAP crash tests in October 2022 and April 2023 respectively.
