SMRT train hits stationary train at Joo Koon MRT station; 23 taken to hospital

An SMRT train hit a stationary train at Joo Koon MRT station platform at around 8:00am on Wednesday (15th November) morning. At least 23 passengers were injured and conveyed to hospitals, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post. The Straits Times understands they were taken conscious to Singapore General Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Passengers who posted on social media said that a number of those on the moving train fell when the two trains made contact. The incident caused delays on the East-West Line. The Straits Times has asked SMRT for comment.
