Special 300SL to head to Concours of Elegance Germany

The Concours of Elegance Germany has announced that it will play host to a special 300SL.
The car in question, the 'Rubirosa' Gullwing, is being entered into the concourse by restoration specialists HK-Engineering. The 87th 300SL ever built, the special car was owned by international man of mystery Porfirio Rubirosa who is believed to have inspired Ian Fleming to pen the James Bond series. The car is set to feature on the coast of Lake Tegernsee with its interior, rim paints and chrome features untouched since 1955.
Born in the Dominican Republic in 1909, Rubirosa showed an early talent for playing polo, the sport through which he met dictatorial Dominican president Rafael Trujillo, and was eventually hired to join his Presidential Guard. Rubirosa rose through the ranks of the diplomatic service to serve in embassies from Berlin to Buenos Aires, Rome to Havana, and along the way would be married five times and courted many movie stars, models and heiresses, amassing a fortune in divorce settlements and alimonies.
