Subaru unveils the Impreza XV at Geneva

The Impreza XV has a choice of two four-cylinder boxer engines, a naturally-aspirated petrol and a turbo diesel with a diesel particulate filter. The petrol engine gets a choice of either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual, while the diesel has a specially-developed 6-speed manual. The Impreza XV gets Subaru’s symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD) system as standard.

Being a crossover with a raised height, the suspension of the Impreza XV has been tweaked, with the front suspension using a strut-type model and the rear having a double wishbone suspension system. Subaru says this combination is sufficiently stiff for a fun drive yet at the same time provides sought-after family comfort when needed.

Among the exterior modifications made to the Impreza XV include a new front grille with a similar design to Subaru’s other crossovers such as the Legacy Outback, a sporty front bumper, wheel arches with claddings, black aluminium roof rails and a large roof spoiler. There are also new LED rear lights.

Inside, the Impreza XV has been outfitted with a two tone brown/black fabric for its upholstery, with black leather available as an option. Other features include a 10-speaker CD/radio sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, an iPod connection and a leather-covered steering wheel with audio controls.
