From Toyota, to Ferrari, automakers have had to answer to safety regulators over a number of issues. Now, Suzuki is being added to that list. However, it's not entirely their fault.
You see, Garmin had to issue a recall for some of its GPS units, because the battery could overheat, causing a fire. And, guess what? Suzuki offers several of the recalled Nav systems in its Grand Vitara, Equator and SX4.
So technically, this recall isn't Suzuki's fault.
The recall effects 2008-2010 SX4's, 2009-2010 Equator's, and the 2010 Grand Vitara. Effected cars are equipped with one of the following Nav systems; Garmin Nuvi model 750, 760, and 765.
Garmin reps will replace the unit's battery free of charge.
