Suzuki Swift S-Concept points to new Swift Sport

The Swift S-Concept shown at Geneva features a unique paintjob called Lightning Pearl Yellow, especially for the motor show. The S-Concept provides an indication of what the upcoming Suzuki Swift Sport hot hatch might look like.

The car is fitted with Suzuki's M16A 1.6-litre engine, together with a six-speed manual transmission, which goes well with its "sporty and exciting look", according to Suzuki. The new Swift Sport is said to produce 150bhp, 22 per cent more than the current Swift Sport, but Suzuki has not officially confirmed the engine's performance details.

The Swift S-Concept measures in at 3890mm long, about 177mm longer than the Mini Cooper S. It is also wider and taller, but wheelbase is slightly shorter, at 2430mm, 36mm less than the Cooper S. The Geneva show car features styling details such as 18-inch wheels, a large rear wing, new headlights and rear lighting clusters, as well as a lowered suspension.

The interior of the Swift S-Concept features bucket seats, a new steering wheel, different instrumentation and carbon fibre trim. Suzuki has not officially announced when it will put the new Swift Sport on sale, but it is expected to arrive by 2012.
