The all new BMW 8 Series Coupe now available in Singapore

BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos have announced the availability of the all new BMW 8 Series Coupe, a luxurious M Performance sports car, in conjunction with the Lunar New Year festivities. While 8 is an auspicious number in the Chinese culture, it also represents something extraordinary and exciting for BMW.

The number 8 in the model name is indicative of the newcomer's high-ranking status within the BMW portfolio. The all new BMW 8 Series Coupe gets the brand's current model offensive in the luxury segment off to a particularly dynamic start. It boasts outstanding performance, emotion-stirring design, state-of-the-art luxury and exceptionally advanced equipment features when it comes to display and control technology, driver assistance and connectivity.

The exterior design of the all new BMW 8 Series Coupe exudes a modern sporty appeal, beautifully blended with an air of exclusiveness and sensual allure. The expressive surface design of the exterior emphasises the dynamic character of the car, while the expansive surfaces are structured using crisp, pared-down character lines.

The car's design is defined by its wide track and long wheelbase, low-slung design, elongated silhouette and flowing roofline. Measuring 4,843mm long, 1,902mm wide, 1,341 mm high and with a 2,822mm wheelbase, the two-door car adopts an extremely powerful stance on the road. An almost fully sealed underbody, active air flap control with adjustable kidney grille slats and Air Curtains including Air Breathers help to reduce the aerodynamic drag of the 8 Series' streamlined body. On the M850i, an additional front spoiler further minimises the lift that occurs at the front axle at high speeds, while a M rear spoiler is also fitted as standard. 

The modern and minimalistic exterior design language is continued inside the cabin. The elaborate design of the interior is awash with high-precision details and creates a harmonious balance between driver-focused dynamics and luxurious elegance. Apart from the gear selector and the iDrive Controller, the centre console also accommodates the Driving Experience Control switch and the engine start/stop button, all arranged within a newly designed function cluster with active haptic feedback.

The 8 Series comes as standard with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which combines a new display and control concept and maximum connectivity into a superb all-round package. The latest generation display and control concept consists of a high-resolution instrument cluster behind the steering wheel with a screen diagonal of 12.3-inches and a 10.25-inch Control Display. The intuitive multimodal interaction between driver and vehicle has also undergone further improvement and offers a choice of the Control Display's touchscreen, the proven iDrive Touch Controller, voice control, the standard BMW gesture control or the controls on the steering wheel. 

Under the bonnet of the M850i lies a 4.4-litre V8 engine with 523bhp and 750Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds. Power is sent to all four wheels via the latest-generation eight-speed Steptronic transmission that boasts a wider gear ratio spread and even sportier gear shifts. The rear-wheel bias of the xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system, as well as the electronically controlled differential lock and active roll stabilisation, combine to deliver maximum agility and precision. 

A particularly wide variety of standard and optionally available driver assistance systems marks out the all new 8 Series as an extremely advanced model within its segment. The standard Driving Assistant Professional packs an extensive suite of safety and assitance systems including Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, steering and lane control assistant, Lane Keeping Assistant with active side collision protection, evasion aid, rear collision warning, priority warning and wrong-way warning.
