06 Nov 2015|4,027 views
Mercedes-Benz has announced the new GLS, the only full fledged seven-seater in the European premium SUV segment. A facelifted version of the existing GL-Class, the new GLS aims to serve as the flagship of the German automaker's SUV lineup (the 'S-Class among SUVs') in the same way that the S-Class does for its sedans, coupes, and convertibles.

The GLS features a lineup with four different engines, providing better performance and reduced consumption values in some cases. The top-of-the-line Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC makes 585bhp and 760Nm torque. The GLS500 4MATIC has a V8 biturbo engine generating 455 bhp and 700Nm torque, whilst the GLS400 4MATIC makes 333bhp and 480Nm torque. Alongside these petrol engies, there is also the GLS350 d 4MATIC with a 258bhp diesel engine with 630Nm torque.
The GLS offers comprehensive stability with Dynamic Select, which has six transmission modes for different road types and conditions. The Airmatic air suspension also offers superior ride comfort. A wide range of safety technologies and equipment also comes standard, including Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Crosswind Assist, Pre-Safe system, Brake Assist BAS, the electronic all-wheel drive traction system 4ETS, ESP with Curve Dynamic Assist, cruise control with variable Speedtronic speed limiter and the Steer Control steering assist function.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS is expected to begin deliveries from March 2016.

A new, dynamic exterior and revised, luxurious interior underscore the character of the GLS. The redesign focused on the front end, as well as modernising the rear with a new bumper and taillights. Chrome-look details such as the roof rails, underguard, shoulderline trim strips, luggage compartment handle and side skirt trim also create attractive highlights.
