Suzuki Motor Corporation has unveiled the facelifted Swift for Europe. The new car comes with a new 1.2-litre enhanced mild-hybrid engine as well as further standard specification upgrades.
On the exterior, the facelifted car now incorporates a new front grille and headlamp design. Blacked-out pillars also help to create the appearance of a floating roof, while pillar-mounted door handles add both style and a sporty flair. LED headlamps and rear combination lamps are now standard equipment.
In the U.K., all models in the range now come with air conditioning, a rear view camera, Radar Brake Support with Adaptive Cruise Control, Smartphone link display audio with DAB radio, a leather steering wheel, privacy glass, front fog lamps, polished 16-inch alloy wheels and front electric windows.
The engine in the Swift is also now replaced by the new 1.2-litre K12D Dualjet unit which offers greater fuel economy and even lower CO2 emissions. Maximum power output is 82bhp while maximum torque of 107Nm is delivered at just 2,800rpm.
Acceleration time to 100km/h is 12.2 seconds for the Continously Variable Transmission-equipped model. The new engine promises high fuel efficiency with improved responsiveness thanks to a new electric intake variable valve timing, a variable displacement oil pump and electric piston cooling jets.
The facelifted Swith will also be available with Suzuki's ALLGRIP 'AUTO' four-wheel drive system in the U.K. The simple fully automatic and permanent four-wheel drive layout transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when required via a viscous coupling and is an ideal choice for customers living in rural areas who may need additional mobility across rougher terrain or for crossing slippery surfaces during winter months without owning a more conventional SUV.
