Toyota Gazoo Racing debuts hydrogen-powered rally car
16 Jul 2025|34 views
Since 2021, Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) has been competing with a hydrogen-engine Corolla. In 2022, this technology was extended to the rally stages of Europe for the first time when the experimental GR Yaris H2 made its debut at the FIA World Rally Championship.
Building on this, development has progressed to create the Rally2 H2 Concept, which will be demonstrated at Rally Finland - running from 31 July to 3 August 2025 - to experience the potential of hydrogen as one of the options for the future of motorsport in a carbon neutral society.
The race car is based upon the successful GR Yaris Rally2's chassis and fitted with an internal combustion engine fuelled by compressed hydrogen, delivering near-zero emissions while retaining all the sounds and sensations.
It will also be exhibited in the service park during the Rally Finland event alongside other hydrogen vehicles such as the Toyota Mirai and Tundra.
