Toyota has revealed two special edition examples of the updated Toyota GR Yaris.
Named after the members of the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team Sebastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanpera, the two cars are said to be an expression of Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda's gratitude to the drivers who have honed its cars in rallies, the rally organisers, as well as to the fans to the brand.
Both cars get special modes for their all-wheel drive systems inspired by the driving style favoured by their respective namesakes
Both cars differ from the regular Toyota GR Yaris with the addition of new control modes for the all-wheel drive systems.
Replacing the 'Track' and 'Gravel' modes in the Ogier Edition GR Yaris are new 'Morizo' and 'Seb' modes, with the former said to have been derived from extensive driving by Chairman Toyoda himself, while the latter is designed to send more driving force to the rear wheels.
The Rovanpera Edition GR Yaris, meanwhile, gets its modes replaced with a 'Kalle' mode which is said to utilise the rear differential to swing the car's rear out when it is thrown a corner. The car also gets a 'Donut' mode that locks the differentials at either axle to allow controlled slides when drifting. Both these modes are said to be reflective of the driving style and tuning setup which Kalle Rovanpera favoured.
Both cars also get a WRC victory commemorative badge ahead of the front passenger alongside stitching to match the colour of the national flag of each driver's country
The Ogier Edition GR Yaris also comes in a Matte Stealth Grey exterior colour, while the Rovanpera Edition GR Yaris comes in a three-tone exterior finish that mirrors the helmet which Rovanpera uses when rallying.
Both cars also come with a different design carbon fibre spoiler at the rear, WRC victory commemorative decals, as well as special logos to identify their respective editions on the exterior.
Both cars also get a special WRC victory commemorative badge in their cabins, while the steering wheel of either car gets stitching that matches the colour of the national flags of each driver's home country.
Toyota states that sales of the lottery slots for sales of both models in Japan are to start early in 2024 through GR Garage locations across the country, and only 100 examples of each special edition car are planned for sale.
So, with your chances of getting both incredibly slim, which do you prefer?
