Toyota to put FCV-R Fuel Cell Concept into production

According to the Japanese carmaker, the fuel-cell unit is located beneath the specially designed body thus saving space with the concept being able to accommodate up to four passengers and their luggage. The next generation fuel cell stack consists of a 70MPa high-pressure hydrogen tank, which said to provide a driving range of approximately 700km.
The FCV-R is similar to the Prius hybrid not just in looks, but they are also very similar in size, at 4,745mm long, 1,790mm wide and 1,510mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,700mm. Toyota has not revealed details about the FCV-R, but it could possibly be based upon the Prius.
The FCV-R is a next-generation fuel-cell concept model fuelled by hydrogen that Toyota says is planned for launch in 2015. The car is among the numerous concept cars that are on display at Toyota’s stand at the Tokyo Motor Show.
