North-bound MRT trains on the North-South Line stopped intermittently along the Orchard Road shopping belt during the evening peak yesterday, reported The Straits Times.
Commuters affected by the delay, which happened around 6:45pm, said there were several stoppages between Dhoby Ghaut and Newton stations.
Operator SMRT did not tweet an alert. But a spokesman said, "A train departing Somerset station encountered a signal fault. Commuters were detained at Newton station. The train was quickly recovered to Ulu Pandan depot."
On Tuesday, LRT services between Choa Chu Kang and Keat Hong stations were disrupted for about an hour because of a damaged third rail that supplies power. And on Monday, a track fault caused a four-hour disruption between Yew Tee and Kranji stations on the MRT's North-South Line.
