As Triangle Tyre increasingly strengthens its presence in the region, it is continuing its mission to provide quality products at a competitive price.
At its groundbreaking conference for the Asia Pacific office on 9 March 2023, the company celebrated the launch of two new high performance tyres for the region.
The EffeX Sport TH202 is targeted at the performance segment, while also designed to be perfect for EV use The first of the pair is the EffeX Sport TH202, which effectively replaces its SporteX range. Targeted squarely at the performance segment, the tyre delivers a 13% improvement in wet handling over its predecessor, while wet braking has been elevated by an even more remarkable 28%.
A key aspect of the tyre that has helped contribute to this is the use of a new generation compound, which combines what Triangle is calling the latest polymer molecular tech with high-grip resin and silicon content.
Additionally, the TH202's braking performance benefits from its asymmetrical pattern, which has four wide longitudinal grooves and large shoulder blocks. The transverse patterns are also said to better its defence against aquaplaning.
A key feature of the EffeX Sport TH202 is its asymmetrical pattern, which was four wide longitudinal grooves Furthermore, a larger high-rigidity block design utilised at the outer shoulders of the tyre are said to be enable more precise handling and harder cornering.
Interestingly, the longitudinal grooves apparently adopt a 'mute' technology to deliver noise dampening. Triangle says this was designed with EVs in mind. The TH 202 is offered for rim sizes between 16 to 20 inches, and with a ratio between 35 and 55.
The ReliaX Touring TE307, on the other hand, more acutely targets tyre durability and mileage while also providing excellent fuel economy and greater acoustic comfort. The tyre succeeds Triangle's AdvanteX TC101, and delivers a 23% improvement in wet braking, and 9% improvement in wet handling.
While also delivering better wet braking and handling, the ReliaX Touring's calling card is durability Like the TH202, the TE307 features four main longitudinal grooves to deliver increased water dispersion and, in turn, reduced aquaplaning. The high-rigidity, closed shoulder design is also intended to deliver reduced block tread noise thus providing greater acoustic comfort.
Since durability is one of the TE307's key goals, the three-segment arc design on the tyre is also crown-optimised to ensure a uniform foot print (this also helps handling).
And finally, the rubber used relies on a new generation compound incorporating highly polymer and high silica reinforcing materials (which are also eco-friendlier). Triangle says that apart from reducing hysteresis loss, this technology also helps fuel economy and handling performance, all while maximising the tyre's durability and mileage.
Triangle Tyre is hoping to expand its regional presence with the recent establishment of its APAC office The launch of the two high performance tyres also marked the coming together of strategic partners and long-time supports of Triangle Tyre, with guests flying in from key regional markets such as India and Thailand.
Although headquartered in Weihai, China, the Chinese company has expanded massively into global markets since its 1976 inception, and even has a technical centre in Akron, Ohio (also known as the Rubber Capital of the World).
With its Asia Pacific office set up only within the last few years, Triangle is hoping to get closer to its customers in Southeast Asia - and naturally, in Singapore - to better understand the specific market needs in the region.
