Updated Peugeot E-2008 launched in Singapore with more range

Let it sink in: One in three Peugeots sold locally in 2023 was fully electric (we're talking passenger cars only).
And as if this statistic wasn't impressive enough, it might interest you to pause for a moment and remember that the only fully electric Peugeot that has been on sale so far is the e-2008… which means the model takes full credit for the brand's electric success.
Such is the impact that Peugeot's emissions-free baby crossover has had for the brand since its local launch in late-2022. One-and-a-half years later, the bestseller has gotten a thorough update to widen its appeal further.
On 29 February 2024, the covers were officially pulled off the facelifted Peugeot E-2008 at the brand's showroom in Vantage Automotive Centre. After rolling it out onto the red (blue) carpet, a sustainable fashion show was even conducted in collaboration with local womenswear brand, Esse, to celebrate its green credentials. The car now goes on sale in Singapore, as it did before, solely in the top-shelf GT trim.
In case you were wondering, the capitalisation of the E-2008's name is not a mistake; with this mid-life refresh, the car's nomenclature has also been given a light update. Consequently, you'll notice that the little 'e' badges that dotted the car's body previously have also been duly upsized.
That's just the beginning of the updates. Although the E-2008 is thoroughly recognisable as a Peugeot, telling it apart from the outgoing model won't be difficult. In place of the single 'fang' daytime running lights (DRLs) stand three vertical 'claws' on its lower bumper, as part of the new Peugeot Signature Light.
Apart from a new grille, redesigned DRLs, and fresh head lights, the car also gets its new 'E' badging all over
Also noticeable on the front of the car immediately are a new grille with vertical patterns, new head lights, and of course, the new Peugeot emblem. The LED rear lights have likewise been redesigned, with the central black panel bearing the firm's name with the latest corporate typography.
The most significant updates to the E-2008, however, are more than skin deep.
The car gets a slightly upsized battery - 54kWh, compared to 50kWh previously - but benefits from significantly better range thanks to its improved energy efficiency. Up from just 345km previously, the car can now cover up to 436km (WLTP-rated) on a full charge.
We're told this is enough for drivers to get from the Peugeot showroom in Alexandra to Genting Highlands without stopping for charging stations. Even if you had to, however, the wait wouldn't be too long; hooking the car up to a 100kW DC charger would already see its battery's state-of-charge go from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes.
The car's drivetrain has been upgraded too, even if it remains fundamentally similar to the previous iteration. A single electric motor still sends power to the front wheels, but this is now more powerful, producing 100kW (or 134bhp) and 270Nm of instant torque - 5bhp and 10Nm more than before.
Combined with the car's bolstered range, Peugeot says that the E-2008 delivers a driving experience that is not only efficient but exhilarating. Crucially, the revisions do not change its goal of affordability either, and help it remain eligible for a Category A COE.
As mentioned earlier, given that this is the range-topping GT trim, expect lots of delightful yet familiar goodies on the facelifted car.
Given that this is the GT trim, expect Peugeot's 3D i-Cockpit up front, paired to a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen
Up front, the driver is still greeted by Peugeot's compact steering wheel, and the three-dimensional holographic instrument panel, while a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen takes centrestage alongside 'piano keys' for a multitude of functions. This system supports Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay wirelessly.
The E-2008 also gets a large sunroof, 180-degree reverse camera, a suite of advanced safety assistance features, and a smart sensor that allows the car to automatically lock itself when you walk away from it.
Registering 119 units of the pre-facelifted car in 2023, Peugeot appears to have persisting high hopes for the E-2008, calling it a model that is "very important to us".
The E-2008 is now on sale in Singapore, and is launching with a price of $153,888, inclusive of COE.
