Fans of the Toyota bZ4X, rejoice! The model is set to undergo its first full lifecycle enhancement ever since its launch in 2022, receiving a boost to its performance capabilities thanks to a new package of technical upgrades.
Designed and engineered to be an authentic SUV, the new bZ4X is optionally available with an AWD system providing increased controllability and genuine rough-road capabilities. Toyota also offers a Battery Care Program covering the battery each year for up to 10 years of vehicle age or up to 1,000,000km driven, subject to an annual battery health check.
The mid-size SUV will now be offered with a choice of two battery options: 57.7kWh or 73.1kWh (gross capacity), allowing customers to choose a version that best suits their driving requirements and budgets. The 57.7kWh battery will be exclusive to the the FWD version, while the 73.1kWh variant will be available for the FWD and AWD versions.
Depending on grade and powertrain, the WLTP maximum range offered is expected to be 573km.
Three drivetrains will also be available; the 57.7kWh FWD variant offers an output of 123kW (165bhp), the 73.1kWh FWD produces 165kW (221bhp), and the 73.1kWh AWD delivers 252kW (338bhp).
With design modifications to its interior and exterior, the new bZ4X's front presents a sleeker, more elegant look with improved aerodynamics. A completely updated interior comes with a new centre console for easy use of digital devices and a 14-inch multimedia screen as standard.
The new bZ4X is equipped with a battery pre-conditioning function as standard, allowing for optimal temperature when charging, which in turns allows for higher charging power. This function can be activated manually or automatically by navigating to a fast-charging station.
A BEV navigation function will also be provided, which will automatically choose a route with recommended and convenient charging stations based on the car's battery state of charge and remaining driving range. In addition, this function is also available for current bZ4X models via over-the-air updates.
Toyota has said that its new, updated bZ4X is expected to be introduced in European markets in the fourth quarter of 2025.
