Upgraded Toyota GR Corolla set for Japan launch
26 Sep 2025|642 views
Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) has unveiled a partially upgraded GR Corolla. Orders are now being accepted at Toyota vehicle dealers across Japan, with sales to commence on 3 November 2025. Also, for current GR Corolla owners, plans are afoot for a software-inclusive upgrade programme.
To achieve stable driving performance even on overseas circuits, which typically generate more-intense vertical and lateral g-forces than circuits in Japan, the application of structural adhesive has been extended to 32.7m - 13.9m more than the GR Corolla's current RZ trim level - primarily in the front part of the body, floor, and areas around the rear wheel wells. This has enhanced body rigidity while minimising weight increase.
To maintain stable high engine output even when the engine compartment temperature rises during prolonged full-throttle driving, a high-engine-speed-activated cool air duct has been added to the secondary intake duct, which draws in outside air directly from the front grille and reduces the intake-air temperature. This stabilises engine output even under high-temperature conditions such as continuous high-load driving.
Inside, the JBL Premium Sound System has been improved, with an added luggage compartment subwoofer that delivers a more powerful audio. In addition, optimised tuning of the pre-existing Active Noise Control (ANC) reduces interruptive engine noises and other unwanted sounds.
