Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has expanded its ID. Buzz model range once more. Following the unveiling of the new high-performance electric Bulli, the ID. Buzz GTX flagship model in March, is the new ID. Buzz Pro.
Available in two wheelbases and can be had in two battery sizes, the Pro promises to be more efficient without compromising on performance. Not only is it equipped with a new 86kWh battery in the long wheelbase (LWB) variant that allows the Pro to have a maximum WLTP range of up to 487km, the Pro also comes with a new high-efficiency drive motor that offers a powerful 282bhp - similar to what you'd get in the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5.
With all seats in place, you get 306 litres of boot space; fold down third row and you get a generous 1,340 litres
The ID. Buzz Pro with a normal wheelbase (NWB), however, will come equipped with a 79kWh battery pack that will see to a sufficient maximum WLTP range of 461km.
In terms of space, the ID. Buzz Pro LWB is impressive. With an overall length of close to 5m and a wheelbase of 3,239mm (250mm longer than the normal wheelbase variant), seven-seat configuration is made possible. According to Volkswagen, you get a reasonable boot space of 306 litres with all seats in place and a generous 1,340 litres with seats six and seven knocked down.
Also impressive is the equipment that comes with the new model. For instance, the new 12.9-inch infotainment system now comes with a newly designed graphical interface that’s simpler and more intuitive. Also, the integrated voice assistant now uses ChatGPT AI system for the first time to offer a host of new possibilities that go beyond the previous voice control. This feature, however, will be subject to approval for Singapore when the car arrives on our shores.
The huge sunroof, which spans 150cm long, is the largest glass roof in any Volkswagen cars ever created
Elsewhere, you get sliding doors, LED head and taillights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a large high-tech panoramic sunroof that can be switched electronically from a transparent to an opaque state and vice versa via a touch slider.
Design-wise, the VW ID. Buzz Pro is an eye-catcher indeed. You get a tapered front bonnet as well as the appealing graphics of the LED headlamps and the classic Volkswagen bus rear end with LED taillight strip spanning across the width - all of which recognise and interact with the owners by means of the key and greet them with a light animation as they approach the vehicle.
The ID. Buzz Pro (left) will be arriving in September with two wheelbases, while the ID. Buzz GTX is coming to Singapore early next year in its long wheelbase form
Both the Volkswagen ID. Buzz Pro as well as the GTX will be arriving in Singapore in September and early next year respectively. The Pro, in its LWB form, will come in both six and seven-seater configuration. It will also be available in a NWB form, which will come in a five-seater configuration.
The GTX, on the hand, will be available for Singapore in a LWB version. The model will, hence, be configured as a seven-seater vehicle. Alternatively, if these aren't for you, an ID. Buzz Cargo is also expected to launch in September a commercial vehicle that will come in both two as well as three-seater form.
