Volkswagen set to reveal R20 turbo!

With the Mark 5, VW's answer for the power-hungry was the R32, essentially a GTI with a 3.2-liter V-6 and four-motion bolted onto its chassis. But it's heavy, and didn't pose much of an advantage aside from cornering abilities.
But now™
There's a new "R." It will have the same direct-injection 2.0-liter turbocharged engine of the GTI, and it will output 270 bhp. It will come with a four-motion all-wheel drive, giving zero-to-100 times in the low-to-mid-fives. And. will max itself out at a speed-limited 250 km/h.
The new R model will offer greater levels of performance as compared to the GTI's, but with only a slight weight penalty from the AWD system. This time, it will easily be offset by the increase in power and torque. Expect a choice of either a 6-speed manual or dual-clutch (DSG) transmissions.
The engine of the new Golf R will come with the bits and pieces found in the strengthened engine of the Audi S3, and being a newer one-up version, it'll also be more sophisticated as well.
Looks wise, expect the real deal to be fairly close to what the pictures show - a deep front spoiler with integrated LED headlights, rear spoiler, three air intakes as well as two center-exit exhaust pipes in typical modern "R" style that will be feature a great soundtrack, just like the R32.
Rumours
It has been rumoured that a Scirocco R20 version will be powered by the 265-hp 2.0-liter turbo found in the Audi TT-S, but there isn't an indication of whether it would come with the group's quattro/four motion all-wheel drive.
More aggressive styling cues will be present in conjunction with the R20T's boost in power, with up to 80 per cent of DNA to be shared between the GT24 racer, sans GT wing, splitters and stickers, of course.
