The representative from Volvo who was in the passenger seat of the ill-fated C30 said that the driver sped recklessly off the line despite several verbal warnings given to slow down. The driver then failed to brake before entering a difficult right-hand corner which led to the car understeering and crashing into a barrier with a heavy impact.
The spokesman from Volvo went on to say that the driver just got overly excited but the C30's safety systems did their job and kept both of them from suffering any serious injury.
The incident led to the circuit being closed off for half an hour while the limp Volvo was towed away.
Last year, Honda suffered a similiar fate when another overzealous visitor took their Mugen Civic and crashed into the huge ferris wheel in the middle of the pavilion.
A Volvo C30 was the victim of careless driving recently when it crashed into a barrier at high speed. The offender was an overzealous visitor to the Goodwood Moving Motor Show event held in Britain. Thankfully unlike last year, no one was hurt by the run away turbocharged C30 T5 as this year the cars were kept away from the crowded show pavillion.
