Volvo offering Polestar performance upgrades for new XC90

Volvo has confirmed plans to offer Polestar performance upgrades for its new XC90, focusing on optimising and refining the entire drivetrain for a more dynamic driving experience. The kits improve engine output, throttle response, shift speed, shift precision and off-throttle response.

The D5 Drive-E variant will be upgraded from 225bhp to 233bhp, while torque increases from 470Nm to 500Nm. The T6 Drive-E package has been bumped from 320bhp to 334bhp and from 400Nm to 441Nm of torque.

"What we strive for when designing and fine-tuning our race cars is to create a completely balanced package. And this is exactly what we have focused on with the new generation Polestar optimisations for the XC90," said Polestar Cyan Racing development driver Robert Dahlgren. "Drivability is everything in racing; it is about having power available when you need it and to be in control. It is the very same thing when driving a road car actively, making this an essential part of what we have created with the new Polestar optimisation."

The company promises to offer additional upgrade packages for other XC90 powertrains at some point in the future.
