18 Jul 2025|63 views
The Volvo XC60 recently earned the honour of becoming Volvo's bestselling model ever, and it seems that the Swedish brand has higher hopes for it still.
Volvo has announced that production of the XC60 will also be expanded to its U.S.A plant, which is located in Ridgeville (outside Charleston), and currently takes charge of assembly for Volvo's latest flagship electric SUV, the Volvo EX90. Production for the XC60 on American soil is expected to begin in late-2026.
While announcing the news, Volvo referred to the XC60 as the "right car for the [U.S.A] market". noting that it currently stands as its best-selling model there.
The XC60 currently accounts for more than 33% of all cars sold by Volvo in the U.S.A in 2025 so far, recording a sales growth of almost 23% for the first six months of the year. More than 25% of these are also plug-in hybrids.
Since breaking ground on the Ridgeville factory in September 2015, Volvo has invested approximately $1.67 billion (USD$1.3 billion) into the site. Dubbed a "state-of-the-art facility" that includes even a battery pack production line, the plant is said have capabilities in terms of multiple platforms, technologies and models.
