Volvo is rolling out a new programme in the U.S.A to equip its dealers there with automated vehicle-inspection systems.
The high-speed, camera-based systems from Israel-based UVeye will utilise artificial-intelligence and machine-learning technologies to check tyres, underbody components, and vehicle exteriors for defects, missing parts and other safety-related issues.
Volvo Cars U.S.A states the new inspection system process takes seconds to complete and is significantly faster than time-consuming manual inspections, and will help to improve customer satisfaction and allow it to further strengthen its reputation for product quality and safety.
The programme is being launched at select retailers on the U.S.A's East Coast, although Volvo hopes a majority of its more than 280 independent retail locations across the U.S.A will install the new system eventually.
