The new Jaguar Ingenium engines with two power outputs deliver optimum balance of performance, fuel economy and refinement in the all new Jaguar XE sports saloon.
The Ingenium range is produced at the firm's new £500 million (S$1.034 billion), 100,000 square metre Engine Manufacturing Centre in the West Midlands in the U.K. - with a power unit rolling off the fully flexible production lines at rates of up to one every 36 seconds.
Starting from a clean sheet, the engineers behind the project made the Ingenium engines as light and efficient as possible, and aimed to deliver the ideal blend of power, torque and smoothness, which customers look forward to. These state-of-the-art engines were proven over three million kilometres of real world testing.
The new XE will feature two versions of the 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel. The first, rated at 160bhp and 380Nm of torque, delivers benchmark efficiency figures of 31.9km/L and 99g/km CO2 without any compromise to launch performance or mid-range acceleration. The higher rated 177bhp and 430Nm of torque variant has one of the highest torque outputs in the class.
The Ingenium diesels will be joined at launch by powerful, efficient, direct-injection petrol engines: turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinders and the supercharged 3.0-litre V6.
