XPENG has unveiled its latest innovations at its XPENG AI Day event, livestreamed globally from South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China.
The event, held on 6 November 2024, showcased XPENG's latest innovations, including the Kunpeng Super Electric System (in response to global charging infrastructure gaps), the Turing AI Intelligent Driving System (paving the way for L4 autonomous driving), and the XPENG AIOS smart operating system.
Built on an 800V silicon carbide platform, the Kunpeng Super Electric System includes a 5C ultra-charging AI battery and a hybrid silicon carbide coaxial electric drive. It also sports an ultra-quiet range extender and AI-drive power optimisation allowing for seamless transition between pure electric and range-extended driving modes.
The system supports rapid charging, with 1km of range added per second and reaching 80% in just 12 minutes. With the AI Battery Doctor, each battery undergoes active monitoring for optimum battery health, increasing its lifespan by up to 30%. It also offers a pure electric range of 430km and a combined range of over 1,400km.
As for the Turing AI Intelligent Driving System, it integrates large AI models with high-powered cloud and in-vehicle systems. Its high-performance Turing AI Chip with a 40-core processor delivers the power of three high-performance chips, achieving three times the industry standard for development efficiency.
At the XPENG AI Day event, it was also revealed that the XPENG P7+ - the world's first AI-defined vehicle - will be officially launched on 7 November 2024.
