BYD isn't the only sub brand of BYD Auto - in itself a part of the larger BYD Group - that has made the headlines at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show, with both Yangwang and DENZA delighting event-goers with three new showcases on our sunny shores.
First up, arguably headlining not just the Level 4 exhibitions but entire Show as a whole was the Yangwang U8, a luxury SUV that wowed viewers with its Tank Turn demonstration. Arrangements have been made by BYD Singapore for dynamic displays to take place three times daily, so if you're reading this before Sunday (11 January 2025) comes to a close, you might want to head on over to the Yangwang booth.
And while we didn't manage to get up close and personal with the model, international sites indicate that the U8 is a five-door plug-in hybrid model that is equipped with a 2.0-litre engine and four electric motors, giving it a combined output of 1,180bhp and 1,280Nm of torque.
Its 49.05kWh battery also contributes to its maximum CLTC range of 1,000km with a full charge and 75-litre petrol tank, and it also offers 110kW of DC fast charging allowing it to go from 30-80% in 18 minutes. If you’ve been paying attention, you should know that the U8 boasts another party trick too: It can float in water for brief periods in emergency situations.
The B5 may be coming to Singapore sooner than anticipated, of which we can only wait with bated breath
Its sister sub-brand DENZA also offered a glimpse of what's to come with the showcase of its B5 model - confirmed for the Singapore market - which international sites indicate is a plug-in hybrid SUV featuring a 1.5-litre petrol engine and two electric motors delivering an output of 677bhp and 760Nm of torque. It is also equipped with a 31.8kWh battery that contributes to a combined range of 1,200km.
And that's not all from DENZA, with the N9 also making an appearance at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show and offering a glimpse into the future of luxury electric mobility, with a notable feature being its latest "God's Eye" ADAS technology.
True to DENZA's luxury positioning, the N9 is a full-sized three-row SUV that offers commodious seating for six (including two fully adjustable captain's chairs in the second row) and a luxurious cabin.
During our time up close with the N9 at Show, we noted that even third-row passengers are treated to their own dedicated window shades, a large panoramic sunroof, and perhaps best of all, powered seats of their own which can recline or move fore and aft - all electrically.
International sites indicate that the N9 is also a plug-in hybrid SUV, with a 2.0-litre engine and two electric motors offering a combined power output of 952bhp. In addition, its 47kWh battery contributes to its total combined range of 1,300km.
