Electric Chinese carmaker Zeekr's lineup of models in Singapore is set to widen again in 2025, with a new member that promises to be the one with the most mainstream appeal yet.
Previewed at the 2025 Singapore Motor Show last weekend, the Zeekr 7X is a mid-sized electric SUV that dials up the space and luxury of the compact Zeekr X crossover, albeit not to the (perhaps unwieldy) proportions of the full-sized 009 MPV. Zeekr Singapore has stated that it is hoping to officially launch the car on our shores by the third quarter of 2025.
The car's dimensions already lend weight to Zeekr's reference to it as its first "luxury SUV for families". At more than 4.8 metres long and 1.9 metres wide, the 7X is larger than the likes of the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC, and also gets a generous 2,925mm wheelbase. And on a slightly different note, while the X and 009 have stood out for their otherworldly designs, the 7X also feels the most subdued so far with its cleaner front and rear ends, even as it exudes the same futuristic air of its sibling.
Space aside, however, the 7X also promises to take Zeekr's promises of tech, performance and luxury to new heights.
The car's 800V high-voltage system, for starters, is purported to support rapid charging that can see up to 241km worth of range returned to its battery in just five minutes. And on this note, the 7X promises a generous CLTC-rated range of up to 780km when powered by the larger 100kWh battery (Zeekr has revealed that a smaller 75kWh one is offered internationally too).
The 7X will also boast ludicrous performance even by electric car standards, with the fastest variant capable of blasting from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Zeekr has made sure to highlight that it's not just powerful electric motors, but strong brakes that the car will come with: It's said to have one of the shortest braking distances in its segment, decelerating from 100km/h to a standstill in just 34.9 metres.
Zeekr has additionally pointed to the 7X's fully self-developed technology stack, which comprises 11 HD cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, five millimetre-wave radars, and a single laser radar, which will jointly power its advanced driving assistance systems. Underpinning the car's infotainment system as well is an 8295 Intelligent Cockpit Computing Platform.
But for the family, the real draw should really be the 7X's snazzy and sumptuous interior - especially in the rear.
While specific features for Singapore-bound units remain unclear, the car's rear cabin can be fitted with double-sided electric sunshades, 'modular sofa' seats which recline, and a 13-inch 2K OLED smart screen. Zeekr has also mentioned that occupants can look forward to full-grain top-layer Nappa leather and ambient lighting with 'floating ripple' patterns.
Amidst all these creature comforts, practicality hasn't been compromised. A total of 32 storage compartments can be found in the car, while its tailgate opens to a generous 616 litres of space.
If you're keen on catching the 7X in person but couldn't make it for the Motor Show, fret not. The car is still available for viewing at Zeekr Centre Singapore - incidentally the brand's 500th showroom worldwide - till Sunday (19 January 2025).
