Judging Criteria
Of the total of 79 cars in 28 categories that have been shortlisted in this edition of the Sgcarmart Car of the Year competition, one car will emerge to hold the coveted title of Sgcarmart 2024 Car of the Year. The annual Sgcarmart Car of the Year recognises each car manufacturer's efforts and creativity in bringing their cars to a higher level in terms of design, efficiency, versatility and value for money.![]()
Our judges will evaluate the cars based on a total of eight criteria.

The eighth criterion is where you guys, our readers, are involved. In order for fair competition to take place, Consumer Voting will hold a massive 50% of the total score, which means your votes play a huge role in determining the winners. Our judges are always on the hunt for perfection, so be sure to pay extra attention to detail and overall professionalism. Our judges will be keeping a lookout for your votes.

Judging Panel
The Judging Panel consists of seasoned automotive journalists from the Editorial Team, who collectively have reviewed over 120 vehicles just this year. From mass-market SUVs to luxury limousines, from electric commercial vans to the odd Harley-Davidson, we've left no stone unturned. Divided perhaps in personal tastes and preferences, but the Judging Panel is united in our goal to be consumer-focused with regards to our evaluation for this year's Car of the Year Awards.

About Car Of The Year 2024
In some ways, 2024 may have felt quite similar to 2023 for many drivers in Singapore. While the introduction of a cut-and-fill approach in late 2023 helped to expand COE supply and bring premiums down from historic highs, COE premiums (and car prices along with it) continue to remain high.
In other way, however, 2024 has seen a raft of change, driven in large part by new players in the market. 2024 has seen 8 new brands launched in Singapore - all of them Chinese, all of them fully electric.
This is clearly indicative of the evolving automotive landscape. This year, more than half of all the cars evaluated for our Car of the Year Awards are electric models - a significant increase from years past.
With new offerings from established marques, as well as the raft of new entrants, customers have never had more diversity of choice.
Similarly, competition has arguably never been more intense within our unique car market.
And of course, the Sgcarmart Media Team has been unendingly diligent in charting these changes, and ensuring that you, our audience, are kept up to date with all the going ons of the automotive scene.

For this 15th instalment of the Car of the Year Awards, the same rules and regulations apply - only cars that were launched and tested before October 2024 will qualify for the Sgcarmart Car of the Year Awards.
