Electric Compact SUV of the Year
Jaecoo 6 Electric
The Jaecoo J6 offers what many SUV fans love: Outdoorsy looks with suburbanite creature comforts in a practical package. Its boxy design gives it a rugged character, but inside, it features soft materials, accent lighting, and large screens. The Cat B model has all-wheel drive and nine driving modes, but a rear-wheel drive Cat A version for those who are more at home on the road than off it is also offered.

From the moment I placed my order to the final delivery of the vehicle, every step of the process was handled with professionalism, efficiency, and genuine care. Hannah kept me well-informed, answered all my questions promptly, and made what could have been a complex process feel smooth and enjoyable.

Ive always loved rugged-looking cars, but practicality matters. The Suzuki Jimny felt a little too small for family needs, while the Mercedes-Benz G-Class Wagon sits in a price range thats hard to justify! Id rather put that toward a home. Then came the Jaecoo 6, and it was love at first sight. It perfectly captures that rugged aesthetic I enjoy, while still being practical and family friendly. What really stands out is how customisable it is, theres a wide range of accessories available that let you truly personalise and elevate the look of the car. On top of that, the interior is impressively comfortable, making every drive enjoyable. The infotainment system is fully touchscreen-based, which does take a bit of getting used to. Personally, Id prefer having a few physical buttons for functions like the glove box or rear wiper, but this can be easily addressed with aftermarket button panels if needed.A special mention to my sales advisor, Brendashes honest, sincere, and genuinely pleasant to work with. Highly recommended!Overall, a stylish, capable, and well-rounded first EV that exceeded my expectations.

Verdict
In a sea of curvy SUVs, the Jaecoo J6 stands out for being unabashedly square. Its boxy design and unpainted lower plastic cladding give it the tough, off-roader vibe that suburbanites are drawn to. But Jaecoo also knows that these drivers don't want to sit in an interior that's as tough as the exterior.

That's why the designers wisely ensured that the cabin exudes cushiness. Apart from the leather upholstery, both the dashboard and centre console lid (which doubles as an armrest) are trimmed with soft materials. Access to the backseat is made more convenient by the doors that open nearly 90 degrees, and passengers will appreciate the flat floor and generous headroom.

The J6 makes you feel as if every drive is an adventure. Initially available as a Cat B model, the J6 delivers 205kW (275bhp) and 385Nm of torque, along with a zero to 100km/h time of 6.5 seconds. With all-wheel drive and a multitude of driving modes for various surfaces, the J6 can take on anything that a concrete jungle can throw at it.

Recognising that most drivers probably won't go off the beaten path, Jaecoo wisely added a Cat A model to the lineup. This rear-wheel drive variant has the same large battery and all the creature comforts of its sibling, making it even more attractive. If you want an adventure without leaving the city, this is the contender to consider.
