Poor Repairs  Posted on 21-Aug-2015

I used to patrol sebs auto since more than a decade ago, when their workshop was at Eunos. Used to receive very reliable service from their team. The boss was very friendly and understanding, even up till today.
However things changed now where they employed this JB mechanic and managed by an old lady Susan.

REPAIRS DONE
Diagnostic tool showing "Solenoid A electric" Which means both solenoid and electrical wires need to be changed. As I was not technically inclined, I couldn't understand this at that moment.
The JB mechanic only changed the solenoid. When I drove off, my car actually stalled twice! I drove back, and was shocked to see the JB mechanic started to refill remaining ATF oil (at least 1/4 left). When being questioned, he told me he thought it was enough that time but now the oil went into the gearbox! What the crap?
Same day, engine light came out as electrical wires not changed. I got to went back next day to change!
After that, ECT message pops up to my surprise, as I have just changed my whole coolant system back in Dec 14. They told me its the ECT switch. However, the engine light lights up again very soon. I went to Harmony Motors, they showed me that "Somebody has touched the coolant hose and the thermostat was damaged for that reason! That costs me another $100+ to fix it!

SERVICE
I been trying to tolerate this rude and unfriendly lady named Susan. When I told her that my engine light came out, she asked me to go in the next day as early as 7+am! Fine, I accommodate to her request even I am the Customer! And she still has the cheek to insist on charging me labour for changing the electrical wires, of which their JB mechanic has not done so earlier!
I was told that per pcs of electrical wire costs $200 but in the end I was charged $500 for 2 wires! I am not sure if labour being factored.

CONCLUSION
My repair bill costs me $1.555K with Sebs. Put yourself in my shoes, will you be satisfy with this kind of service and technical incompetency??

I am planning to purchase a used Hyundai i30, and hence need some technical assessment on the car. So arranged to visit Sebs this morning based on reviews from this forum. A very nice senior with a deep passion with cars. Helped me with a pre sales assessment of the car condition for free. Even brought us along for the test drive with demonstration of hand brake turning. All went well and I've bought the car. Will be bringing the car back to Sebs for routine maintenance checks.

5 star is only as far as the forum allows.. I was there last sat mrng trying to fix some radiator problem and only found out later later that I was cheated by the previous mechanic i visited. Uncle Sebastian together with Susanand ah hoc displayed all sense of professionalism w/o the stuck up or 'don-come-and-ask-me', look. Not only did Sebs auto charges at a very market price(really reasonable), what I found most distinguish was also the knowledge of uncle Sebastian and the technical and dedication of the mechanic.. NO SLIP-SHOT work. I 'm totally in agreement that Sebs auto provides what they promised and they are really professional. Bo bei ciao.

This is an overdue feedback. Quality service you get from a no-frills car service workshop. Uncle Seb is like a walking automotive encyclopedia. I have visited SEBS many times and each time I leave the workshop feeling assured. Keep up the great service, Uncle Seb and Susan !

Was looking for an alternative auto service for my Hyundai Avante. KOMOCO provides reasonably good service but I consider them expensive and inconvienient as I live in the NE. Anyway, read some of the good reviews on this forum and had my car serviced on Sat. 26th March at SEBS. Was greeted by Sebastian himself. Informed that his workshop was destroyed in a fire late last year because of an accident. He now operates from his neighbour's workshop. I found him sincere and trustworthy. Despite his unfortunate situation, he and his lady assistant can be seen servicing their customers under the hot sun. (he tells me he is 60+) Although, this is my 1st car service with them, the experience has been positive with reasonable pricing and closer proximity from where I live. I had my car serviced and changed all 4 tyres.

According to the boss, the shop been around since 1985 before the existent of Komoco. They are one of the authorised dealers in parts and best of all, the charges there are about half or lesses then Komoco charges according to what I've done today.
