Hop on a Hari Raya-themed train

Commuters can look forward to boarding a Hari Raya-themed train this festive season. Two themed trains were launched on Thursday (22nd June) to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa, which falls on Sunday, and it marks the first time that the trains are decorated for the Malay festival. It is the result of a collaboration between the Land Transport Authority, SMRT and SBS Transit. One train will travel on the East-West and North-South Line, and the other on the North-East Line. Both trains will run until 19th July.
The trains will feature ketupat and festive light decals on the windows, as well as traditional motifs on the carriage floor. Some carriages in the train have wall stickers reminiscent of a living room setting, with pictures of couches and other furniture. The idea behind the designs is to replicate the warmth and comfort that one feels when spending time with family at home.
The launch was attended by Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs. Some commuters who boarded the train were positive about the themed trains. Madam Haslinda Kassan, 52, an Assistant Station Manager who took the train on her day off, said, "It reminds me of the carpet I have, and makes me feel at home."
