Tesla has revealed its new Roadster model, which is set to be the world's fastest-accelerating car whilst having a 1,000km range.

During the launch event for the new Tesla Semi lorry in California, U.S.A, Tesla also unexpectedly unveiled the new Tesla Roadster, a stunning four-seater with jaw-dropping numbers.

According to company Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, the Tesla Roadster has 10,000Nm of torque from its three motors and will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 1.6 seconds, which would make it the fastest-accelerating production car in the world. According to Musk, the Roadster will also have a top speed in excess of 402km/h, and will have a 1,000km range thanks to a 200kWh battery pack.

The Tesla Roadster is set to only be available in 2020, but the first 1,000 cars have been priced at $250,000 (S$339,000), with $50,000 (S$67,800) deposits being taken now. Subsequent units will be priced from $200,000 (S$271,200).
