Omoda and Jaecoo electrify Bukit Panjang Plaza

Electric SUVs and crossovers continue to be the most sought-after vehicles among buyers who like the space and versatility that they provide. If you're in the market for one of these and stay in the west, you won't have to travel far to find a good deal.

Indeed, keen buyers can head to the Sgcarmart Premium Brand Showcase with Omoda and Jaecoo, which is taking place from 10-16 November 2025 in Bukit Panjang Plaza. Prices here start from $149,999 with COE.

Here, you can discover the Omoda E5, a Cat A crossover with a distinctive coupe-like roofline. Swoopy lines aside, the car also boasts a high-tech cockpit that features the infotainment and instrument panels integrated into one sleek unit. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.

Powering the E5 is a 61kWh battery that provides a 430km driving range. Meanwhile, the electric motor delivers 99kW (133bhp) and 340Nm of torque to make city driving a breeze. The E5 is relatively efficient as well, averaging 6.5km/kWh.

On the other hand, if you want a rugged-looking crossover that doesn't skimp on creature comforts, then the Jaecoo J6 might be right up your alley. It's unabashedly boxy and has unpainted plastic fenders to enhance its off-roader vibe.

Once inside, though, you'll discover plush seats and a functional layout that makes it easier for first-timers to get used to. There's also a panoramic sunroof, and interestingly, ventilated outer rear seats in addition to the front seats.

The Jaecoo J6 is available as a rear-wheel drive Cat A model, but if you want more performance and extra driving modes to help you tackle a variety of other surfaces (such as sand, rocks, and mud), a more powerful Cat B variant with all-wheel drive can be had as well. 
 
Now, while EVs have been surging in popularity, there will always be drivers who aren't ready to switch from internal combustion to electric. Perhaps they require a car with more range. Or they can't afford the charging downtime. In this case, the solution may be a plug-in hybrid like the Jaecoo J7.

The J7 has an electric motor, battery pack, and an internal combustion engine. Like a regular hybrid, the electric motor assists the engine or takes over under certain conditions, effectively reducing fuel consumption.

However, unlike normal hybrids, a plug-in hybrid has a larger battery pack and a more powerful electric motor. And its battery can be charged via a charging station (hence the name). This allows it to travel further on electric power alone, while offering a longer driving range, too.

In the J7's case, the 18.3kWh battery lets the car travel up to 90km on electric power alone. Working in tandem with the petrol engine, the J7 can cover up to 1,200km when fully fuelled and charged. Combined, the two powertrains pack a punch as well, with 341bhp allowing the SUV to finish the century sprint in 8.5 seconds.

Other key features include a long list of advanced driver assistance and safety features (ADAS), along with a tablet-style 14.5-inch infotainment display and a 10.2-inch instrument screen.
