The Morgan Motor Company has introduced the all new Morgan Plus Four.

The new Plus Four is based on the bonded aluminium platform that also underpins the Plus Six.

The 255bhp in the new Morgan Plus Four allows the car to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds
Exponentially more rigid than the outgoing steel ladder chassis, the platform is still lightweight at just 97kg, adding to the car's ride and handling capabilities. Morgan claims that the agility, response and balance of the new car will be instantly familiar to anyone who has driven a Morgan sports car, past or present.

The new Plus Four retains a similar footprint to the model it replaces, but better packaging has allowed for increased interior passenger and luggage space. Ingress and egress have also been dramatically improved to enhance the day-to-day usability of the car.

New 15-inch wire wheels are also being offered for the Plus Four, an addition that required redesigned wishbones, suspension uprights and braking components. A newly designed alloy wheel style, which references sports cars of the 1960s and 70s as well as Morgan wheel designs of old, is also available.

The all new Morgan Plus Four's leather interior will continue to be hand-trimmed
Powering the Plus Four is a turbocharged 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower engine. It marks the first time a four-cylinder turbocharged engine has featured in a Morgan car, and it produces 255bhp along with 400Nm of torque.

In combination with the car's dry weight of 1,009kg, the Plus Four's zero to 100km/h sprint is accomplished in just 4.8 seconds, while the car's top speed is 240km/h when fitted with the eight-speed gearbox automatic gearbox.

Ratios can also be chosen manually, using either the gear selector or the steering-column-mounted paddles.

Traditional Morgan values will remain crucial to the production of the new Plus Four. Every Morgan sports car will be built at the company's Malvern home, and will continue to use time-proven production methods. The car's aluminium panels will continue to be hand-beaten and the leather interior are to remain hand-trimmed.

Also new to the model are features such as automatic LED front and rear lighting, remote central locking and ABS, as well previously optional items such as power steering, a mohair hood, sun visors and door check straps. New optional equipment for the car includes puddle lighting and an in-car audio system with Bluetooth connectivity.
