Mass production of the Mazda CX-60, the firm's first plug-in hybrid SUV, has started at its Hofu Plant No. 2 in Japan.

Mazda has started mass production of the all new Mazda CX-60 plug-un hybrid SUV at its Hofu Plant No. 2 in the Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.
The all new Mazda CX-60 is the firm's first plug-in hybrid. This variant was said to utilise a Skyactiv-G 2.5-litre four-cylinder direct injection petrol engine paired with a 134bhp electric motor, an all new eight-speed automatic transmission, and a 355V, 17.8kWh high-capacity battery at its launch.
This combination of engine and motor delivers a total system output of 323bhp and 500Nm of torque, making it the most powerful road car Mazda has ever produced. Claimed WLTP fuel economy for the Mazda CX-60 meanwhile, stands at 66.6km/L.
The vessel carrying the first shipment of CX-60s is due to depart for Europe on 26 April 2022.
