Ringbrothers, one of the world's most famous custom car builders of super-exclusive Ford Mustangs has unveiled its latest creation. It comes in the form of a custom built 1964.5 Ford Mustang convertible known as CAGED which took over 4,200 hours to make. The design philosophy was to subtly evolve and bring a modern touch to the Mustang's lines and proportions while honoring the original aesthetics.
Nearly every component in the Ringbrothers CAGED is a one-off piece, with the only factory Mustang parts being the center caps for the wheels. The team carried out extensive metalwork converting the Roadster Shop Fast Track chassis back into a unibody, as well as widening and lengthening the bodywork by one inch. The BASF Glasurit Burgundy Brave finish was then applied, and all the chrome and stainless-steel trim was treated with Cerakote Titanium.
Ringbrothers co-owner Mike Ring stated that the client for this particular car strictly wanted the car to maintain a subtle and stock like appearance throughout the process of the car's build. Regardless, the team added a number of 3D-printed details and sharpened the lines of the car, adding subtle aggression and presence to the car.
The front grille has been redesigned, being set back two inches and feeds air into a Ford Performance 5.0-litre Coyote V8 crate engine filled with Motul engine oil for protection and performance. Expect the exhaust note to be particularly tuneful thanks to the custom-built headers by Ringbrothers and a Flowmaster exhaust system.
Emphasis was also placed on handling, coming with Penske Racing Shocks RS Edition performance coilovers front and rear, an independent rear suspension and a set of Baer Brakes for stopping power.
