2022 Mazda CX-5 gets a more comfortable suspension and more responsive gearbox

Mazda is updating the CX-5 for 2022 with new styling and upgraded interior features.

The front of the 2022 Mazda CX-5 gets a new grille, described as more powerful and three-dimensional. Both the front and rear lamp clusters have also been restyled, with each lamp featuring a pair of horizontally spaced, rectangular LED lights. A new exterior colour, Zircon Sand, has also been added.

The Mazda intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) is also being introduced into the 2022 Mazda CX-5. It will enable the driver to select the most appropriate drive mode with one touch of a switch.

Redesigned seats pair with a retuned dampening structure and increased frame rigidity for the 2022 Mazda CX-5 to offer increased ride comfort and decreased road noise. The crossover is also getting a responsive six-speed automatic transmission.

The interior of the 2022 CX-5 will also benefit from a wireless Qi phone charging tray in the centre console.

In the U.K., the CX-5 is being offered in three model grades, each with a distinct character.

The 'Newground' grade gets silver underguard-style front and rear bumpers and door garnishes, black door mirrors, lime green accents to the front grille and 17-inch silver or 19-inch black machine-cut alloy wheels. The interior combines suede upholstery with lime green stitching and air-conditioning louvres.

The 'Sport Black' trim meanwhile boasts a sporty gloss black finish to the front grille, signature wing, lower bumper sections, wheel arches, door garnishes and door mirrors for a taut and athletic look.

19-inch alloy wheels here are finished in black metallic paint, and the front grille incorporates red accents. Red stitching trims the black leather seats, steering wheel, gear shift lever and door panels.

'GT Sport' trim meanwhile, gets a unified, one-colour exterior in place of the matt black body panels. This is complemented by bright silver 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior gets Nappa leather and genuine woodgrain.
