The Z4 GT3 is powered by a modified version of the 4.0-litre V8 engine taken from the BMW M3, and has a new 408 ECU and a Power400 control unit. As a result, the engine is able to provide a power output of about 480bhp.
Other performance upgrades to the Z4 GT3 include a six-speed sequential transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, racing anti-lock brakes (ABS), and "rims with locking and safety clips." The Z4 GT3 is set to be available for sale to private racing teams in the second quarter of 2010.
