BYD debuts the Ocean-V concept at Auto China 2026

Alongside the Seal 08 and Sealion 08, another BYD model has made its global debut, albeit a concept one.

The BYD Ocean-V concept model is described as a "family mobile life cube" that refuses to fall into the usual categories of sedan, SUV, or MPV. Indeed, this concept takes next gen Ocean Aesthetics as its core philosophy, breaking free from conventional vehicle design constraints.

Within its form lies the freedom to have multiple cabin environments. These include the Driving mode, which sees a steering wheel with no physical buttons for a futuristic experience; Cinema mode, which - at the press of a button - turns the Ocean-V into a private movie theatre; and Camping mode, which folds and rotate the seats, allowing for face-to-face time, a picnic, or even a three-person bed.

The interior is further enhanced by the "Glowing jellyfish kit", which features jellyfish-shaped speakers and lights that are magnetically detachable and usable everywhere from the roof to a tent or on the grass.

BYD says that the Ocean-V concept represents the Ocean Series' original aspiration: To understand the new generation and build dreams for young families. The brand has also said that the concept's innovations will gradually make its way into mass-production vehicles.
