Cadillac has electrified its iconic Escalade full-size SUV.
Called the Escalade IQ, the car measures a total of 5,697mm long and 2,389mm wide, and has the drivetrain to match.
Animating the Cadillac Escalade IQ is a 200kWh lithium-ion battery, which allows its electric motors to deliver a total of 751bhp and 1,064Nm to torque when the car is set into its 'Velocity Max' driving mode. This battery utilises an 800V architecture, which Cadillac states will enable the Escalade IQ to top up 161km of range with just 10 minutes at charging. Cadillac estimates that this Escalade IQ will deliver up to 724km of range.
Surrounding this electric drivetrain is a body that makes the Escalade IQ still recognisable as an Escalade, however, use of GM's electric vehicle dedicated Ultium Platform has allowed the wheels here to be pushed to the far corners of the vehicle, giving it a more planted stance.
These wheels will come as 24-inch items, and pair with a long bonnet and fast-sloping roofline at the rear to give the SUV a sporty look.
The Cadillac Escalade IQ will come with an air suspension system that enables the vehicle to be lowered up 50mm or raised by 25mm. All-wheel steering, will also give the SUV added manoeuvrability in tight spaces.
The electric SUV will additionally come equipped with GM's Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology, which currently enables drivers to travel hands-free on more than 643,000km of compatible roads in the U.S.A and Canada.
In the cabin, the Cadillac Escalade IQ comes equipped with a 55-inch pillar-to-pillar display complete with Google built-in. An Executive Second-Row Seating package is also offered that will give second-row passengers 12.6-inch-diagonal personal screens, as well as massage seats complete with headrest speakers. This seating package will also finish the cabin with a 40-speaker AKG Studio Reference audio system.
Regular production of the Escalade IQ will begin mid-2024 at GM's Factory ZERO Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Centre in Michigan.
