Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck concept to be unveiled in Bangkok

The Colorado pickup truck concept previews the production version, which will be toned down and offered for sale within the next few months. Thailand will be the first market to receive the Colorado, and appropriately, the concept will be officially unveiled at this week's Bangkok Motor Show.

"Although this is a show vehicle, the basic proportions and form convey the vision for the next-generation Colorado that we will bring to market," said Brad Merkel, GM's global vehicle line executive. "It reflects a stylized version of the new truck, one that takes into account rugged dependable truck capabilities for commercial use as well as sophisticated refinement for personal-use needs."

The concept to be shown in Bangkok features an extended-cab body on a high-stance AWD chassis, as well as a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, and comes with large 20-inch wheels and off-road tyres. Details such as the large alloy wheels, futuristic exterior mirrors and LED lamps will most likely be absent from the production model.

The interior of the Colorado is inspired by Chevrolet's road cars, like the new Aveo and the Camaro, and soft-touch materials are used throughout the cabin. There are also a number of storage compartments, including a covered centre bin and a large, dual glove box, for added practicality.
