COEs under Category A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine displacement and no more than 130bhp in power output ended at $65,689 - an increase of $5,687 from the bidding exercise a fortnight ago.

The increase comes as no surprise as it was projected by the press earlier today, supported by strong orders of several motor distributors over the past two weeks.
Premiums for larger cars ended up mixed - interestingly each with a 2.7 percent difference - as premiums for Category E rose, while Category B premiums continued to decline.
Under Category B, for cars larger than 1,600cc or 130bhp of power, the tender ended with premiums at $68,103 from $70,002 in the last exercise - a reduction of 2.7 percent amounting to $1,899.
Category E premiums (also known as the Open Category) ended at $67,290 - a slight increase of 2.7 percent - amounting to $1,789 - from $65,501 two weeks ago. The amount recorded today is the lowest since the start of the year after peaking at $84,504 back in mid-April.
Despite the mixed results, all premiums are fluctuating below the $70,000 mark and it is possible to see premiums stabilising after the next few tenders.

As in the case of May's first bidding session, Category A premiums reported the widest change of 8.7 percent among the car categories and is the first time premiums defied the downward spiral after three straight dives, which started in mid-April.
